President's Greeting

JML Optical was founded in 1972 on the principles that quality precision optics, delivered on-time and well-supported before and after the sale, are what customers want and need. This is true for all of our customers regardless of industry, whether you are an engineer, purchasing agent or student, and whether your end product is in production or the first prototype stage. Our growth and development over the years confirm the value of these principles to our customers. In fact, they are more important today than ever and I expect that they will continue to gain importance in the future. They are the driving forces behind our ISO 9001-2000 certification in November 2006.

These principles apply to all of JML’s products – catalog and custom. In speaking with customers, I am often amazed to learn how few know that JML’s catalog is only a part of what we offer. A large portion of our business is custom optics – designed, manufactured, coated and tested to your unique specifications and requirements.

In this edition of our catalog, we’ve added hundreds of new products – products that you and your colleagues around the world have requested. We’ve also included more information and pictures about our extensive capabilities:

• Design and engineering – we design to your requirements, or review your design for simplification and cost reduction – never a charge for this service!
• Manufacturing – spherical, cylindrical and plano; conventional and high-speed CNC grinding and polishing; high precision quality and tolerances
• Thin film coating – reflective, anti-reflective and beamsplitter; high performance, high laser damagethreshold, multi-layer coatings; UV, visible and near IR
• Assembly – doublets, cubes, multi-element lens assemblies and opto-mechanical sub-assemblies
• Metrology and testing – traditional benches and state-of-the-art interferometers (8 and growing); in-process and post-process; test data tracking and computer-generated reports

These capabilities reside under one roof in our new 110,000 square foot facility. Our welcome mat is always out – you have an open invitation to visit us, meet the people who develop, make and test your optics, and tour our factory.
